This course is essential for any business or individual who are involved in manual handling eg the movement or transportation of goods or materials. Current legislation states that all persons must be trained in the workplace as Manual Handling is one of the main causes for workplace injury resulting in pain for the employee and possible time off and loss of staff and increased financial burden on the company using replacement staff and training and retraining.
On successful completion of the course all delegates will be to look carefully at there own workplace activities and contribute to the development of safer methods and tasks, in cooperation with their managers and supervisors.

OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE

State the principles for controlling manual handling risks and apply these in a practical context

Demonstrate a general understanding of the value and purposes of conducting manual handling assessments and what employees can expect of such assessments

Demonstrate an understanding of the main provisions of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations
This programme is designed to be delivered in 2-3 hours (class size dependant) and assessment is by means of short objective test of 20 questions.
On successful completion of the assessment delegates will receive a level 1 certificate issued by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
